Sunday walk: Part 2

And on to the 2nd half of my walk. I decided that I should go to church. Well at least pop my head in. After all it was Palm Sunday.

St.Peters Church, located on York Street it is believed to be the oldest continually used Anglican church in the Western hemisphere. The original church was built from Bermuda cedar with a palmetto roof in 1612. Most of the present structure dates from 1713. The first Bermuda Parliament met here in 1620, making it the 3rd oldest parliament in the world.

Their are 2 grave sites around the Church, one of which was area set aside for Slaves and free blacks, which is located in a small walled in area to the west of the Church.

Headstone located in the "Slave Graves"

Located to the rear or north side of the church, the "ole tree" finaly came down. This tree or whats left of it was once a Bermuda cedar that had even held the church bell. It was over 500 years old.

Grave site off our former govenor Sir Richard Sharples and his ADC, Hugh Sayers. They were assassinated in March of 1973.

Got to love the plants all around and on this "pink" house

No shortage of abandoned burned out houses here!!!

And finally I am almost home, this is the next door neighours, He allways has a lot of flowers and other plants in the front and around the house.
